Lost One Down (Sketchbook) - 2024

To get a quick overview of how the animatic should express the story, various movements were sketched in the same frame.

The animatic "Lost One Down" features Rim in a new environment. To illustrate this environment roughly, without any previous concept art made for it, I went ahead with the simple pencil tool and sketched out the backgrounds.

To express both the vibe and friendliness of the school, many characters are shown interacting with the environment and the viewer themselves. It being a necessity to showcase the educations you can follow aw well, the characters had to extend their interaction to doing their homework instead of just standing there.

Simple notes across the board were for me only, as this was a solo project for which I was responsible for all elements and design choices. Not all scenes were eventually used in the end product, due to the time restriction of the video, which had to be 20 seconds exactly.

With a VoiceOver provided by the commissioner, I accordingly sketched the rough idea out to later on animated.

The different objects and characters are sketched with various colors to keep it oversee-able. Directions in which the scene assets move were marked with arrows. With the use of notes I kept track of the movement that had to happen which I could not illustrate in the storyboard, as it'd get clogged to a degree where I could not see what action I wanted to have the character to preform.
