Commercial - Adobe Animate, After Effects, Sketchbook, Photoshop, Cinema 4D  & Premiere Pro (2025)

With 6 weeks to complete this project, I continued working on this assignment for long hours. I made it with much passion and put all I had into it. It's a combination of various animation programs, and I even tried my hand at 3D animation again.

By using the provided style guide, I altered the outfits of my OC's to place them in this environment. Many different aspects were taken into account, as I had to represent both the vibe of the school and chose to add its educational routes as well, as the client wanted to get rid of their imagery as "an art school". With music provided copyright free by Good Kid (on request of the client it be copyright free), I found the right instrumental beats that could add to the vibe of the video.
Ready, Set - FlipaClip & After Effects (2023)
"Ready, Set" is a project I started in February of 2023, but never got to finish. The idea was to make a fan-animation that could promote the online multiplayer game Blockstarplanet.

As preparation, I had designed multiple characters that would be featured along with the mascots of the game itself. Their purpose was to represent the social playerbase, through friendly and competitive interaction in the animation.

All would be done in the free animation app FlipaClip. Besides FlipaClip, things such as backgrounds and special effects would be made in Sketchbook, to present it at a higher quality that could not be achieved with the brushes and tools in FlipaClip.
Army Dreamers - FlipaClip & After Effects (2024)
"Army Dreamers"  was made as reaction to a trend on the social media platform Instagram. It featured Kate Bush's song "Army Dreamers". The popularity of it rose with artists depicting themselves versus their characters.

At first a version of the artist is presented. Small details such as hair in the wind and the slight movement of clothes were soft elements that weren't all too disturbing to the viewers' eye.

Then, Rim, with her overlong brown and harsh hair, comes shrinking in with fast hair movement. The yet fast but smooth hair in the wind was a surprising turn. Both attributes of the artist and Rim are polar opposites, yet the individuals are similar.
Repair Cafe Pijnacker - After Effects (2024)
"Repair Cafe Pijnacker" is an ad for the Repair Cafe branch stationed in Pijnacker to attract young people into voluntary work for the cafe.
By working in a team, we designed the characters starring for the video. After this, we both worked on the storyboard, and eventually visualized it in After Effects, using various tools such as the regular keyframes and pin puppet tool. The voice over is my dad, as I asked him to help out and come across to the audience as kind and honest.

Lost One Down - Animatic (FlipaClip, Sketchbook & After Effects) - 2024
A short animatic featuring Rim finding herself in a new, violent realm, and being determined to survive.
Combining three different applications, I made sure that every still frame was acknowledgeable. Choosing to keep it in greyscale tones, it was far easier to colorize each frame and finishing the product in the assigned timeframe. It features a showcase of Rim's personality and abilities which she developed over the course of the story.

Pink Elephants - Animation 2022 (FlipaClip)
During the month October of 2022, I created an animation "meme", as it is dubbed, using the Blockstarplanet mascots.

An animation meme is an animated video, most often 2D, in which characters move and dance to a certain beat. These beats are songs varying from mainstream artists to other form of music expression. The movements are in sync with the music.
Various character alterations were made to fit the spirit of Halloween, including designs for side characters that didn't originally belong to the game.

Huesocks - FlipaClip (2024)

"Huesocks" was a new brand of socks for which advertisements were commissioned in which I contributed to the promotion of the new brand of socks.
Using the patterns of the socks provided by the commissioners, I first sketched the spinning foot, after which I applied the patterns. To showcase all variations the Huesocks had to offer, the patterns switch mid-turn to showcase each other from a different angle.
Volksbuurt - Adobe Animate, After Effects, Premiere Pro (2025)

For this animation, I got to work with a new type of application. Getting tolerant how to efficiently work in the program was a hassle, and it still felt far more limited that the regular animation app I used.

First off, I created the atmosphere of a working-class-neighbourhood (Volksbuurt is the Dutch translation of this). The VoiceOver provided however featured no mention of this neighborhood, which had me hit a roadblock. I quickly figured out how to reflect the neighborhood through vibrant colors, instead of the regular muted colors that most people would associate with the street. Instead of a depressing look, I gave it a whole 360.

Furthermore, the character, in the VoiceOver referred to as "Guy", was also colored vibrantly to fit the setting. A messy animation style was considered fit in opposite to the colorful format, to reminiscent the neighborhood regardless.

I decided to have multiple scene settings instead of a looping animation, so the viewer would continued to be engaged in the animation. Then at the end, as per the assignment, the VoiceOver script is featured. Despite the man's voice sounding robotic, his story is that he has been collecting various words over the years and recorded these, then created sentences with the individual recordings of words.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea - Sketchbook, Photoshop & After Effects (2024)

After having put the background together, first in Sketchbook carefully separating all the layers and exporting these individually for setup in After Effects, the second part of the character had to be repeated in the same process.

It was quite difficult to put all the pieces together. In After Effects, I animated all these separately through Puppet Pin tool, creating Children and Parent layers after which I got everything to move. And finally effects. To create this underwater feel, I used mostly aquatic colors to mimic this. The current face in the helmet is a placeholder image, as no face was originally drawn to fit inside. Instead I used an old headshot of Talon and masked it to fit properly in the diver's helmet.
Unity - Blockstarplanet Animation - Msp Inc. - FlipaClip (2020)

In 2020, the founding company of Blockstarplanet, Msp. Inc., commissioned me to create an animation to announce their game engine getting replaced from Flash to Beta. This being a huge honor and being only 16 years old at the time, I spend my entire Christmas break working on completing the animated video. My commissioners were very pleased with the result, and even now it's part of my legacy.
